Premier Park PCN, Exeter Airport

Outraged
Can anyone help?
Dropping off a friend who was looking for a car rental office I literally, for 5 minutes, turned into what I now know to be the Exeter Park 2 Fly site (with no barrier entry system), thinking the car rental office was there. Confused, I stayed in the car to check the paperwork while my friend got out to have a look. After no more than 5 to 10 mins we realised we were incorrect, my friend walked to the airport terminal and I drove off the site, without having left the car or turn off the engine.
4 weeks later I receive a letter saying a previous PCN was sent to me & the charge was now £100 & the opportunity to pay a discounted amount had been lost! It didn't even specify the original date of the alleged incident.
I wrote back saying I had never received the first "supposed" letter, explained the above & asked for the PCN to be "......voided otherwise I will be happy to contest this in court & I looked at this as harasment." A reply came back saying the charge still stood and because I left it so late to appeal the £100 still had to be paid!! I don't even know how much the original PCN & discounted amount was for!!!!!!
After reading the forums I now realise I may have been better off not even replying but by doing so I have now entered into 'negotiation' with these bullies.
My instinct is to either now ignore all their further correspondence or reply again siting I will not be paying their demand because:
-mitigating circumstances (1st offence on that piece of land, honest mistake & now fully aware of restrictions there)
- charge levied disproportionate as didn't even receive first letter so not even given opportunity to pay a discounted amount, + £100 is disproportionate when 5-10 minute parking would cost 50p if that!
- Insufficient signage, while turning and manoeuvring was concentrating on driving not looking for signs + if they really wanted to stop cars from straying on their site they should have a barrier entry system like most other airport car parks.
Can anyone enlighten me as to what will be my best course of action. I am determined not to be conned by these 'privateers' for straying onto an area that looked like offices and certainly not a carpark!
Thanks in advance.........

p_t_p' advice is short, sweet and very much to the point. Premier Park are simply a private parking company chancing their arm by invoicing you for what amounts to an unenforceable penalty. Your best option from now on is to completely ignore them. have a look through the "stickies" at the top of the board - these will give you an idea of the likely letterchain that you will receive - Click here. Look down the list and you will see a sample Premier Park letter. If you'd care to scan in, de-personalise your letters from them and then repost into that thread, that would be of enormous use.
Premier Park Ltd are essentially a local company ostensibly based in Queens Street, Exeter but this is just an accommodation address. They are actually based just outside Newton Abbot and are owned by Steve Garratt, along with his other babies Citadel Parking Ltd and Clearview CCTV Ltd supposedly based in Queens Street and Southwest Security (UK) Ltd based in nearby Dawlish. Unfortunately, Southwest Security appear to have been neglected of late as there is an active proposal to strike them off the company record which might not be unconnected to the fact that accounts have yet to be filed and the company was incorporated in October 2009.My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
Add me to the "ignore them" list.
You may get letters from them for a longer period as they'll think you have taken it seriously. You've already told them to take it to court so don't waste any more postage or emails.0 -

Though my correspondence from them had a return address on the envelope of Thornton Heath. You may want to use this clue to simply return the post unopened, writing Return to Sender on the envelope. (I had the advantage of using a typo in the address on my V5 to be able to spot PPL's letters before opening them.)0 -
