Clydesdale Ready Cash Account

Afternoon folks.

I seem to recall reading one of never in doubt's postings which mentioned that basic bank accounts were an unregulated product and should therefore not be credit scored. I've also read on here that Clydesdale now DO credit score this account. Anyone able to shed any light?

Reason I ask is I applied in the branch and surprise surprise the adviser said that the same application process/forms were used for both their main current account and the basic. I was not sure if this was true. I was then referred and I am currently awaiting the outcome.

They've always checked your ID electronically and to ensure that you're not bankrupt. There are lots of better accounts than Clydesdale, as many people have reported problems with maestro cards,.

She did the full application with me asking for salary details etc when I had said to her was just the basic account I wanted. I didn't think that was required. Showed her my passport and is I thought that would have been sufficient.

Accepted for full account. Didn't think I would be but there you have it. What's the difference between the debit mastercard and the maestro card - are they both not offline debit cards anyway?

debit mastercard is more widely accepted and have a daily cash withdrawal limit of £500.
