Public House Parking Fine

Hi, A friend of mine parked in a public house car park (the Mischief in Portsmouth) he duly had one drink and got a newspaper from next door. When he returned to his car he had a parking notice saying he was "fined" £60. He obviously went to the manager and complained as to why this was issued by Britannia Parking seeing as he had used the pub. The manager said that if he had not entered his registration into a book in the pub then this is what happened. He complained that this was not made clear to him by notice or when being served. The manageress said that they could not do anything about it as Britannia Parking was employed on behalf of Green King (the brewers and owners).
My friend duly tore-up the parking ticket and left it on the bar exclaiming that he was not paying and left.
This was 3 weeks ago tomorrow and he hasn't heard anything yet...but I guess he should expect to.
I have read this forum and threads and although he was thinking of "appealing" by completing a Britannia Parking form I have now advised him not to and just ignore whatever comes his way.
Has anyone got any further advice to the contrary at all? Cheers Mike

No, you seem to have advised him correctly.
    PLEASE NOTE
My advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.
  • Now tell him and all your mates to avoid the pub, stupid rule and presumably not made clear.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Our local fish and chip restaurant has one of thes 'registers' of cars and lots of UKCPS posters in the car park. I never fill it in, but i'm still waiting for a ticket.
  • Maybe you'd like to contact Green King, explaining why you'll never be frequenting that or any other pub of theirs, and why you'll be making the same recommendation to everyone you know. Also ask them if that's how they really want to treat their valuable customers.
