Carers allowance and students, court case?

Hello I hope you dont mind this is for a friend. I am SURE I read somewhere a long while ago on MSE that a student had taken the benefits agency to court over ineligibility for carers allowance as a student and one. Does this ring a bell? My friend would like this info to add to his case as he is now a full-time student. I know that all the rules state that students can not get carers but we he would like to challenge this.
Thank you :-)
Thank you :-)

Doubtful, the law is clear.
If you're in full-time education of over 21 hours a week (arguing you do less work than this, if the course is a 'full time' one doesn't work, unless you can prove you've already done some of the modules for example.) then you're not entitled to CA.
Even if you have interrupted your studies, only people who have permenantly abandoned their course are entitled.

This is the case the OP is referring to - Alex Robinson, a student who is also carer for his girlfriend.0 -

....and this might be the most important part of it. However, having said that I still feel that the law is an a.ss.0
