Reconditioned Laptops

I'm looking for a reconditioned laptop for my son - nothing flashy, just a basic model that he can use for homework and going on MSN to chat to his friends. Can't afford a new one, so thinking of a reconditioned one. Google throws up any number of companies, but I'm wary of buying from cowboys. Any recommendations for reputable companies I could look at ? I've had a look at the Dell Outlet shop but they still seem to be quite pricey, and some of websites that Google returns seem to be an awful lot cheaper - too cheap, perhaps ...... ???
Thanks in advance.

PC world or argos ebay site. Often have decent ones around the £160 mark.
Have to be quick though, often go within an hour, especially coming up to xmas
Otherwise, perhaps look at a 10" netbook instead? Something like this looks ok for the cash

Thanks very much for that. I'm not really an Ebay user, wasn't aware that Argos etc. had official outlets, but just had a quick look and there's some good stuff there. Also hadn't considered a netbook - that looks to be ideal for what we need. Will have a look around, thanks again.0
