dilema

I am still waiting to set everything off with my dmp with payplan however I have aboslutely no money until I get paid on the 28th and I will need some for petrol and other expenses.

About a month ago before my lightbulb moment I applied for a credit card (a high interest one for people with crap credit) and it has come through the door today.

what should I do?

Either get yourself into further debt or sell some of your possessions to raise money.

If you are setting up a DMP why on earth would you get another credit card?

Maybe you should think about debt counselling

This card was applied for before I decided to get some help with my debts but I dont know what to do know as I am skint and wont be able to survive 18 days without any cash.

do you have anything you could sell on ebay or gumtree? or a family memeber you could borrow a few pound off to see you threw, i wouldn't use your card as theres a good chance you'll end up worse off at some point

What happened to all last month's wages? did it all go on repayments? were you not in time to cancel any repayments?

How much is the absolute minimum you can survive until payday? Do you have anything you could sell to raise a bit of cash? could you get a small advance from work? or a family member to lend you money to fill up the car?

If at all possible I would try to avoid using this card - if you use a new card and then go straight into a DMP within a month or so this is going to look pretty bad to the card provider - they'll know it takes a few weeks to set up a DMP and will know you were aware of your DMP when you started using the card.

Yes all my wages have gone on repayments

I have no one I can borrow the money off either which is the worst part and to top it all off I dont actually have anything of any real value that I could get rid off.

I cant get an advance from work as I already had one the moth before last which is being taken in installments (3) from my pay.

My dmp will be about £250 a month which will leave me £285 to live off including petrol. What if I used the card without it being mentioned to payplan then paid it all of in full and cancel it on my next payday?

I am off work for two weeks in november so wont need to speed any money in that two weeks.
  • You have to ask yourself if you have the discipline to do that.

    I wouldn't suggest it.

It's amazing what you think has little value, has great value for others.

I will force myself to do that.

I really do not own anything. I have a computer and a car. That is what really annoys me about my debts I dont actually have anything to show for them.

Do what you would have done if this card had turned you down.It is a harsh sort of message - but if you have a DMP and you start now to use the card, before you know where you are, you will be happily paying off the DMP out of the card - just decanting you debt to a new place.

I know what your saying but I dont really have a choice otherwise by the time my dmp is in place I will have so much interest on one of my debts it will be astronomical.

You need to inform payplan of all your unsecured debts and need to include them all in your DMP. This is the terms of the DMP agreement with them.
