Question regarding mobile phone insurance with bank?

I have mobile phone insurance with a well known high street bank and have recently lost my phone. The thing is, although I have "a" phone insured my phone wasn't actually "registered" on the insurance. I'd just been putting it off which in hindsight was quite silly.
Where do I stand on this issue? Can I register my phone now and report it lost - provided I have all the relevant documents on the phone and have reported it with the police with the correct details? Or, have I just made the silliest mistake of my life and lost an uninsured phone whilst actually paying for insurance?

In short
I have phone insurance
but,
The phone wasn't registered on the bank's policy.
In fact, there is "no phone" registered on the bank's policy. It is just phone insurance with the space for the actual "phone to be insured" left blank.0 -
You'll need to check the actual cover you have to see if it needs to be registered in advance.
One bank says, for example:-
Your mobile phone insurance is automatically activated. However, we recommend you register your phone details as this will help speed up your claim if you should need to make one.
You'll probably need to report it to the police so I wouldn't recommend registering it now and report it lost shortly thereafter. That could be regarded as fraud.0 -

No, I have no intention of falsifying any information. That happens to be the bank I'm with so it looks like it is only advisable that the phone be registered and not a necessity. Good news for me I can tell you. Phew.0
