Evening all,
Hope someone here might be able to help,
We’re trying to hook up our PS2 to our wireless network so our son can play online and are having difficulty knowing where to start.
We have an basic adsl router modem and to this model we have connected a US robotics access point (model USR8054) to enable us to have wireless internet access, which we use to connect to with our laptops wirelessly.
Now we want to know if we need to buy anything more to connect our ps2 to this network wirelessly. I.e. A wireless game adapter? As we also have another piece of kit which is an ‘D-link Wireless 108G Gaming Router DGL-4300’.
We haven’t a clue how to go about connecting it all up or ifs it’s the right bit of kit we need. It doesn’t seem to work when we connect the gaming router to the ps2 when we try. So I was wondering if we could swap the kit about a bit to see if it will work. I.e. Connect the D-Link Wireless router to the modem to create a wireless network. Then connect the USR access point to the PS2 and try and use this to connect to the D-Link wireless network?
Now Im not sure if you can use the access point to connect to another wireless network or whether it has to be hardwired to the modem. Can someone please give us some advice, Im thinking the access point isnt the right bit of kit and we need to buy a ‘wireless game adapter’ to connect it to the PS2 and home wireless network to allow us to play online.
Now I hope someone in the know understands all the stuff I’ve just written, and what im trying to do im a bit confused to say the least.
:rotfl:
Basically I want to know if I can get the PS2 online via a wireless network connection, using;
1 x access point/wireless router:

1 x wireless router:
http://games.dlink.com/products/?pid=370&sec=4
and 1 bog standard adsl modem router.
Not sure if its possible and whether the access point can act/do the bit to connect our PS2 to the wireless network created by the D-link wireless router.
Again, sorry for being a nuisance, this stuff is beyond confusing!:D
Thanks a million to anyone who might be able to help,
Sal

what i would do is connect the PS2 up to one of the laptops via an Ethernet cable, then bridge the connections so the laptop acts as a wifi adapter for the ps2. to play online the laptop has to be on0

thanks for the tip.

i actually though of that and have indeed tried i, but my son often wants to play online in his room when Im downstairs on the laptop. Any other ideas if I its possible with the kit we got or will we have to buy an aditional adapter for he PS2?0 -
I have no idea whether you can rig something up with your current kit. My son uses one of these http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/524590
