Wonga.com Help.....Please Help Me !

Hey guys,

My girlfreind got a wonga.com loan about a month or so ago, and when she next got paid we had an emergency and couldn't pay it back.

She emptied her account so wonga could not get take the money, and so far hasn't paid anything back.

She gets paid again on friday and, sadly we can't afford to pay it back again this month.

I've heard wonga.com keep trying to take the money from your account until they can or they try different amounts.

As of today 9th october she is 20 days in arrears and it'll be 27 days on friday, will they still be trying to take it from her account ? Will she have time to get up in the morning and empty her account before wonga touch it ? or can she call them and arrange some kind of payment plan ?

Thanks

Yes the'll still be trying to deduct the money.
Does she have online banking? If so she might be able to transfer it at some point in the early hours before they get to it, other people have managed this by staying up and keep checking their accounts until their wages go in.

If she does get her money moved then I'd suggest she sets up a new bank account with an unrelated bank and get her future wages/income paid into that account. Then she needs to write to Wonga to propose a repayment plan she can afford.

Beg and borrow from family and friends to get Wonga paid off before you really get yourselves dug into such a deep hole that you'll never get out!

No. If she cancels her card Wonga will simply take the money straight out the account. They are one of the pdl companies who have it written it to the agreement that they can try to take funds by other means, and that basicallly means they will take it from the account the funds were paid into.

The model of these payday loan company's is pretty good when you think about as say they get 10 applications and give out 8 loans and 5 pay back on time a little profit made but then the 3 left dont, cant or have no intention of paying and then cry when they get a rather large bill for the initial amount they borrowed.

Surely you knew when taking this loan amount out that you could not afford to pay it back so why get one in the first place ?

We had an emergency, and then fell behind on our rent so that is more important right now !

If she rang them and said she can pay around £50 or £100 would they cancel the automatic payments or if she wrote them and it gets there before friday ?

No. If she rang them they might say or imply they'd cancel the automatic payments but the reality is that it wouldn't make any difference, With companies like this they is no getting them to agree to a repayment agreement until they have no other way of getting the funds. And with pdl companies anything said by them on the phone is worthless.

Pay as much as poss and arange a payment plan with them for the balance, dont bury your head in the sand as the cost's will soon mount up here its best to be as honest as pos with them and try to pay back quickly.
