the processor is not strictly the point. The motherboard "is" the point and how configurable it is. Check the manual and their website/forums for starters.NURSE: "Shouldn't it be sterilized, doctor?"

You'll need to do some research into overclocking a Pentium D. If you google, you should come up with plenty of links.
As mentioned above though, you have to have a motherboard capable of doing so. I'd firstly find out what mobo you have. And yes it'll void the warranty, so you may not want to do so."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -

Dont!! You will need some serious cooling for an 820, and the results are often poor. Have a look over at the Guru3d forum if you really want to give it a go. Oh, and yes, it will be off your own back if it fails."I'm not even supposed to be here today."0 -

You can get quite a good overclock out of it. But yeah, it does run quite hot so you need decent cooling solution. For someone new to overclocking, it's not the ideal chip to be starting with.
People seem to be about to get about a 25% overclock with it though. Not bad considering.

It really depends what motherboard you have, you will also need an after market cooler.
Buy one of these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-017-AR
But that chip can overclock well, with a bit of care it is a beast.
Basically you are upping the fsb of the cpu, but while you do that the memory speed goes up, so you either have to have speedy memory, or drop that down. You will get to a point that your cpu will not go any faster while staying stable, so you then up the volts and then try to get the speed up again.
As long as you do not up the volts, it is quite hard to kill your chip (but not impossible) Just make sure you know how to clear your cmos, and you can not really go wrong.0
