Question

I have a daughter who turned 18 in July. Did TC automatically realise she is 18? Or should I have contacted them to tell them?

  • i take it shes still in full time non advanced education(i.e college/6th form?)and that you still get child benefit for her?
if she isnt and you dont then ctc should have already stopped

I'm pretty sure you have to contact them. This happened when I turned 18, and my Dad didn't inform them straight away, and it caused a few problems. Best idea is to phone and check to see if they have their records up to date.

I'd be a little astounded if the computer software didnt recognise that someone had turned 18. I'm pretty sure CTC stays in payment at 18 anyway though. It would stay in payment until Child Benefit stops I think.
