Hello, this was spoken about on BBc breakfast yesterday morning - I am unsure of its actual title - I couldnt see it anywhere on here.
So if you are on means tested benefits with a child under 5 - means tested and DLA or a pensioner on the credits you are entitled to £120 winter allowance to be payed by your electricity supplier as more people have electric than gas
I emailed brirish gas who are my supplier straight away yesterday morning, they called me back today, asked a couple of questions and I am entitled to it. It will be credited to my pre payment meter some time in the january billing quarter
PLEASE NOTE some suppliers only have a small number of payments set aside for this. The pensioners are taking priority but as I understand it this will be on a first come first served basis for the lower income families/disabled. Its the top 6 suppliers who ever they are! But most are not advertising it according to BBC breakfast so they recommend you do as I have done and contact your supplier asap.
Hope this helps some one and I hope I put it in the right forum section!:D
