Newlyn bailiffs regarding council tax.

That quite a sackful of serious accusations. I would be interested in some evidence, because of the seriousness, rather than disbelief.Quite often the council are UNABLE to produce an actual Liability order.
They have even produced FAKES and forgeries when asked to do so.
A genuine Liability order will have a
Court case number
A court seal or stamp
The WET signature of the Magistrate signing the order and a title naming who has signed, it will also need to be dated by the signatory.
They often cough up a fake order with no magistrates signature, no case number just some scribble because they never went to court in the first place.
Then they allow debt collectors to impersonate bailiffs with no court order.
The who thing is a sham from start to finish.
You can not even "appeal" because you can not appeal what never went to court in the first place.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Thanks all for information.
I sent a e-mail to council asking for a bit of clarification(over weekend), but haven't received a response yet. Looks like I have to take a day off work, and spent the day at council offices.
BUT since is been more than 5 years ago I sent my papers to them, they simply can deny anything(that I provide them with new address and date moved out).
I have no idea where I stand.0 -

Don't take a day off work. Deal with them by post have everything in writing. Personally, I'd ignore it but that's me.Thanks all for information.

you cant ignore council tax debt
you can be sent to jail for wilfully refusing to pay it
OP do not under any circumstances let the bailiffs into your home keep your door locked (even when your in bailiffs can walk in) keep all your windows closed
if you have a car not on HP/finance keep it well away from the houseI am not an expert I am self taught i have no legal training any information I post is based on my own personal experience and information gained from other web sites

It's not council tax debt it's a summons charge and liability order cost. You cannot go to jail for ignoring fees and charges. Normally if the OP had a council tax debt and was making payments then they stopped making payments the council tax would still be outstanding as the bailiff fees and court charges are paid first and the council tax last.hallowitch wrote: »you cant ignore council tax debt

You can for council tax costs - they are treated the same as council tax itself for recovery purposes.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
