Having a look at comparison website to switch supplier of gas and electricity and its so confusing as loads of companies offer you added incentives to stay with them for a year such as 100 quid offer avaliable from nPower and 180 with first utility. I am not sure if this is included in the comparison savings displayed on these sites - anyone any idea.

It would seem First Utility offer for me the cheapest dual fuel offer anyone any experience of this company good or bad??

  • Dont go there. I wish someone had warned me. I have been battling them for over a year. I have a smart meter but I get estimated bills. I have taken them to ombudsman and thet are still sending dogdie bills. I cant leave until the case is closed. Cant wait to get out of this hell.

    Thanks decide to go with OVO instead seem like a good choice as fixed price for a year....
  • A word of warning about OVO. They have just set my DD higher than I expected, they say to cover the higher winter usage. They also say that come April my DD will be adjusted for the summer months. So there will be two levels of DD one for the winter and one for the summer. Just means I have to keep an eye on the balance of my account to avoid running up a large credit at the end of the year. Mmmmmm?
    Named after my cat, picture coming shortly
  • Hi there, I have had 2 years on fixed deals from Ovo and their customer service is good and the tariff simple and cheap (was the cheapest).
    They have reduced my direct debit a couple of times after representations but I still have several hundred pounds of credit.
    BUT - to be fair they pay 3% interest on it and they did offer to pay it back this year. I decided that as it was more than my savings account and offset mortgage to leave it with them!
    Maybe not wise? Is this money protected if they go bust?
    Anyway I am looking at it again as they are not the cheapest on comparison sites, I will have to look at it carefully as other suppliers are much more opaque with their discounts etc;
