Buying off Steam (Half Life2 thing)

Anyone here brought off Steam? All the prices are in dollars, how much do you end up paying in the end? Plus on wiki it says you get charged tax as well! Link...

Is it easier just to buy from play.com, than from steam. Even through i dont like putting the disc in all the time

Personally I find steam great and very conveniant. I did buy HL2 on disc but you need to register it on steam anyway and I registered all my old HL games so no more messing with looking for discs. As for exchange rates, the specifics depend on your own credit card rates but at the moment the pound is very strong against the dollar so it is possible to get some comparative bargains.

Thanks for the reply! Not sure if they take my card, any idea what the exchange rate would be for paypal?

Last thing I bought through paypal a couple of days ago from USA it had conversion rate of about 1.9 dollars to the pound.
