Last night, as we prepared to leave Sainsbury's car park, my girlfriend's car went "bang". I returned the frozen chips while we waited for the rescue service and today we have found out that, given our current economic state (read: we're skint), it may prove to be more viable to replace rather than repair.
So, does anyone inthe Watford/Heml Hempstead/St Albans-type area ahve any recommendations of who we should go and see or, equally important, any cowboys we should avoid?
Thanks.

Sorry to hear about that - we've had similar problems recently!
Depends on your budget, really. If you're looking at or above £3000 then I'd recommend CarGiant in North London (http://www.cargiant.co.uk/).
Only about 15mins from the bottom of the M1, or a short walk from Willesden Jct station.
Below that, I'd suggest eBay.Can I help?0 -
If you're looking for something newish, we got a car from Longmarsh in Wellingborough. http://dealerservices.autotrader.co.uk/4664/longmarshltd.htm
They're really a car/van hire firm that also happen to sell cars, so they're not too flexible on price as they don't care that much about turnover. On the other hand, there's no hard sell either, and prices are very reasonable to start with.0 -
Probably too far south for you, but we use Cuffley Motors. I'd really recommend them - they've been excellent. They specialise in Mitsubishis.Touch my food ... Feel my fork!0
