    Yes Serida's absolutely right. Combi boilers are far more efficient at converting gas fuel into hot water, but because its instantaneous water heating (if you've got it set to Econo mode as I have so that a preheated tank isn't sitting around waiting to to be used,) there is possibly a gallon of cold water in the pipe between the boiler and the bathroom which has to run out before the hot water gets to you. Solution simply is to keep a plastic bowl in the bathroom and run the cold into it. Put this to one side and use it to flush the loo (fluid waste).
    Getting the wife into the habit of doing this is the only struggle.
