AM currently doing some research on franchising however all the information I can find on the companies involved seems to be from their PR company - even though it appears on many different sites.
Is there any forums for discussion about this sort of thing which are independent and not just recycling the Franchise companies blurb???

UK Business Forums has a franchising sub forum and tends to have helpful people on it.0

Just remember to critically appraise who has what interests in what they tell you!
Many high-street names are franchises (subway, starbucks, tony&guy) which bring strong brand identity and that brings regular, repeat (daily/weekly/monthly) customers in exchange for the franchise fee. But there are a lot of pretty duff franchise 'opportunities' out there too - 'ovenUkleen4less' etc where the brand is worthless, and in a saturated irregular sector (weekly oven clean, anyone?). However the hyperbole from the dud franchises makes them sound at least as good as the decent ones!0
