We were up in London on the August Bank Holiday weekend...
No card needed for children on tubes or buses.
The rule is children age 5-10 travel free, up to 4 children per adult.
You will be better off going through the wheelchair access or the access manned by the staff on the tube though, as if you try to squeeze throught the single gates they do tend to close a bit quick..0 -

They need a special card to travel free on their own. With an adult they are free
under 5s free regardless0 -
And children 11-15 can get half-priced paper tickets, or travel for £1.30 a day with a Zip card (which can't be issued on the spot).0
