Looking at a Samsung Laptop

Hi,

I popped into an IT shop today looking for a laptop and the following was on offer for £300, is this a decent machine for running MS office, browsing online, watching/downloading movies and playing games on?

I3 Samsung R540.
4 GB memory
500 gb Hard Drive
Windows 7
Office 2010
Adobe Mastersuite 5.5

Thanks.

One thing wrong with your post.... Adobe® Creative Suite® 5.5 Master Collection

Looks like this one: NP-R540-JA02UK Ok if new with full warranty.

I just double checked the Itinary, Adobe Mastersuite 5.5 isn't included within the main deal but Office is, I guess it would be too much to expect Adobe to be included in a £300 deal when it's so expensive to buy on its own.

You need to check about Office, as usually it is a TRIAL version that only works for about 30+- days. After that you will have to purchase if you want to continue using it, however there is a FREE alternative, Google for LibreOffice.

The other option is that it is MS Office Starter, a replacement for MS Works, limited functions and comes with advertising.

Not too bad. Just be careful with the charge socket and I also seem to have sold a fair amount of keyboard keys for low end Samsungs however when you consider they were part of the scheme to give computers to low income families, that doesn't necessarily mean that it was a build quality issue.

As with many entry level laptops, how long they last depends a lot on how well they're treated.
