Which is best fixed 12 or fixed 36
Ive been looking on the comparison sites and Im unsure as to which will be the best deal for me
Do I go with a company that has a fixed rate for just 12 months and is cheaper
or
Go with a company that is fixed rate for 3 years but pay slightly more
Some background
At present Im with eon. Im in a new building which has electric only (including underfloor electric heating, which nobody can seem to tell me much about regards to economy, how long to have it on for etc). I am on their bog standard tariff.
My meter has both day and night readings but also a reading which is a combination of the two. I have to give eon both night and day readings although I think that they combined them together to get my correct meter reading.
I need to switch as they want to charge me just over £90 a month (direct debit)
There is only myself and my child in a 2 bed flat, I use the tumble drier once a week at most and am out all day so electric mainly gets used from 4pm till about midnight
Thanx for your help

When fixes are cheaper than standard tariff, you know prices are too high.
Piggy backing on the Freeview carrier wave from Alexandra Palace, I have been sending subliminal "dump energy futures" brain waves to the City of London. I am waiting for a cheap one year fix, based on the collapse of the western economy.0

I don't think that you'll find a 3 year fix that is only 'slightly' more than a 12m. If it is, then it proves Pincher's point. All the cheap fixes ended about a month ago.
A long fix is just a longer insurance policy, no one knows where prices will be in 6m, let alone 3 years. Do you want to pay that premium for 3 year's peace of mind
£90pm for an all electric, non-E7 tariff, is pretty good, if that actually covers your consumption. No free lunch, and no free laptop 0 0
