Hi ,
does anyone know the price of christmas cake AT LIDL? hi, im Jeanette.:beer:0 -
I know the cakes or a cake from lidl has in the past won awards or been recommended as the best 1, the puddings are fine but i prefer some taste(taste of rum or brandy etc) to them and cant remember if they were just bland or had some taste. I think they're mentioned in one of the womans mags or home style mags.0

You could always "feed" them with alcohol like you do a home made cake.0 -

yes, make your own. We have made christmas puddings for years, use Delia Smith's recipe from her Christmas Book (also http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/cuisine/european/english/traditional-christmas-pudding.html ), and I leave out the almonds.
Make it/them a couple of months before Christmas so it can mature - I've eaten them after more than 9 months in storage, and TBH they get better- Making this years is on our agenda for next weekend.
It's very satisfying, we all have a mix and make a wish when we make the puddings, we make extra ones for other family members too and give them as part of their christmas present.
Do try it.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.
