My parents didn't live long enough to celebrate their Golden Wedding, so I've contributed so this special couple (hopefully) will be able to realise their dream.
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

Good luck to them. But sorry, seems like a pull at the heartstrings for me which I really don't like.

    £100 for a bridesmaid dress?

My daughters bridesmaid dress last year cost £60 and that was from Coast.

    £300 for renewal fees?

You can get it done in a reg office for around £100.

There are women on the wedding board here who had had a lovely wedding, for less than £2K and some even less than £1K!

I think whoever it is has set their sights a little high!

So on that note, I'm out ;)

  • I really don't think it's a scam but it's not something I feel inclined to donate too.

I think she is bl*ody cheeky.
would rather give some money to an animal charity. We are all skint and in the same boat. But we don't beg on the net. We save up every spare penny we can and budget for what we want.
Afraid I'm old fashioned and if you can't afford it, or you can't make it, you go without!

It's not like it's a kidney operation or something. It's only a party for HER parents. She should pay or do something cheaper

I know it may seem like a scam, but its an honest seller, I guess shes trying every option possible to do something for her parents.

In all honestly everyone is entitled to their opinions, if we all agreed on everything life would be boring.

Whislt you say its only a party for her parents, but for reasons I guess she has stated, that its not just a case of wanting a party for the heck of it, its deep, meaningful and someone trying to give something back to her family who obviously mean the world to her.

Sure she'll be paying towards it, we don't think she realised the cost of everything, everyone does things differently, and I always think you can't judge a book by its cover, and by the looks of it shes trying her hardest to do something for someone else.

It's not begging, it's asking for donations.

What you see as begging, I see as someone trying to do something a little different, even entrepreneurial to raise a bit of extra cash...not far from the million dollar website idea, which I certainly didn't view as begging.

Sadly I'm as cynical as everyone else (despite the assurances of OP) and believe charity starts at home - so once I've finished paying for my own wedding I might think about things like this :)
