The Claims Guys - HELP!

Hi Everyone!
I'm in need of some help. A few months ago both my parents received calls from The Claims Guys telling them that they could recover their PPI payments from Barclays, and so they completed all the forms which were sent down. However a few days back I was informed that my parents could have done this without their help something which the people on the phone "forgot" to mention. I've been told that they should have informed my parents of other means of recovering their money, unfortunately my parents were left with the impression that they could only get their money back through one of these companies or through solicitors.
I'm wondering if my parents have a valid case for not paying them for their services especially since they were mislead.

Hi and welcome
Yes they could have made a reclaim if mis sold the PPI by doing this themselves.
I am not sure where they would stand on this now if they signed up, but hopefully someone will be along soon to help, good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
If you feel the claims company putting in the mis-sale complaint have mis-sold their services then you should complain.
I dont doubt what you are saying as I have been cold called by The Claims Guys and they told me a load of BS in an attempt to put a complaint in.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Who should I log the complain with? The Claims Guys or someone else? And should I expect them to put up a fight??0

I think you will find this very hard to make a complaint against the Claims Guys and have it upheld, simple reason it was in the likely event all verbal and the actual contract signed will differ from the phone conversation basicaly leaving whoever signed the paperwork with a large bill and it will be very hard to get out of it,
You can try the FSA or the FOS, but dont hold out for to much hope.0 -

The FSA and FOS do not regulate claims companies. They are (lightly) regulated by the MoJ. A complaint should be made to the company and then the MoJ if the company are not responding in the way you think is right. However, many people still complain to the MoJ at the same time as that seems to yield a better response than going to company first.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I should have remebered that by now,

Weve had threads like this before and not too long ago.
Claims companies are under no obligation to inform people that they can claim the PPis back themselves. That would be crackers,
no one would use them if they let that slip.
Think of it as a furniture shop, just befoe your mum and dad buy a settee, is the sales man going to say to them, 'these are free down the road you know'make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
