The answer is that it depends on your authoritys allocation policy, in my area you can have additional bedrooms if your children stay more than three nights a week, every week or average of this over the year.

As your partner has given notice the tenancy will end on the expiry of her notice, if you are still resident without agreement the authority will need to apply to court for possession after serving a notice to quit against you and if you lose, which is likely unless you can identify a human rights defence you will have to cover all the costs.
