Do Freeview Boxes/TV Recorders need aerials?

Hi all,

I currently have an LG LH2000 tv with built in freeview tuner, and all was fine until my aerial wire was messed up, and I was wondering if it would be better if I bought a tv tuner (freeview box) or a TV recorder( the freeview but with Sky+ features) ?

Do they need aerials to work, or do they have their own reciever inside?

    yes- you need an aerial.

    The boxes have a receiver inside, as does your current TV. it's the aerial that picks up the signal and takes it to your box, or TV. If you live in a strong signal area, you may get away with a good quality internal aerial.

    What's "messed up" about the aerial cable? It might be simple to fix.
