    Saved to weeklies.

Might be a good idea to change the end date to 1/12, then this won't go straight to GO.

if you are posting it every week then this post needs sent to game over and the link removing from weekly thread.

as i understood it only monthlies were to be posted as new each time *shrugs* duping them on main as new each week is not fair on those of us who choose to use the regular sticky threads to find comps that can be entered more than once...it is one way or the other not both :)

I thought if it has an end date, it goes on the main board. As this comp has an end date (even if it is regular each week) it should be on the main board for everyone to see.

There are a couple on the weekly board which have end dates (i can understand those with no end date being there) which are not posted on the main board, the one im thinking of is the Honeybun one, which i post if i remember, but i missed it last week and as no one else posted it, it meant the majority of people would have missed it too.
Its so difficult trying to keep everyone happy - but i do think the rule of if there is an end date it should go on the main board - the debate i guess is whether it should be bumped or posted individually.
  • yeah you are correct cc, if there is an end date then it should go on main with the end date so this one should be posted as E: 25/11 and the thread updated each week with the new details. it should then be linked in the weekly sticky thread, which is merely a compilation thread for all the posts that can be entered weekly. i assume when you mention weekly board you actually mean the weekly sticky THREAD?

if its not being posted that way and is being posted as a new thread each week then it needs to NOT be linked in the weekly thread, as posting both ways is duped. there was upraoar as i am sure you remember, about extra threads when it was tried posting them in an ongoing thread and also as a new thread for each end date with links to the original thread.

it just really needs to be one way or the other and not both.

ps if you find any with an end date on regs forum then pm a bg to get them moved to main where they should indeed be :)

Yes, i do mean the sticky - and agree with all you have said.

My only problem is that there are some comps on the weekly thread that are no longer on the main board - and i have no idea what should be done, as if i post them then they are duplicated, the way they are posted on the weekly thread dont always show end dates, they are bumped each week with the new answer, but unless you go to the weekly board, you wont see them.

    i see what you mean....
any like this one that have an overall end date https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3535337
i would suggest pming a bg and asking for them to be moved to main and the final end date used as by any definition of the rules they should be on main, they woudl still be bumped each week, but anyone who comps by newly posted would have seen it and subscribed or whatever how they normally do if they dont use the weekly thread, and those of us who comp by end date will find the link in the weekly thread. (eta i have pmed about that thread so it will be moved to main at some point).

as to whether they shoud be posted as anew thread each week (and thus not linked in the sticky) or updated each week my suggestion would be to leave that up to each individual op but also that we would not tell the ops they have posted wrongly no matter which way they choose to do so (which i slaregly how it has been working since the new rules anyway, eg. weeowens chooses to take the time to post a whole new thread each week and link to the previous but those threads are not linked in the weekly sticky, others choose to post and update one thread each week and those then are linked in the sticky). like you say we wont ever keep everyone happy, in my opinion by letting the ops choose and thus if there is an ongoing thread no one dupes by posting it again, or if it is being posted every week by someone and not being missed no one else creates an ongoing thread would be the closest we will ever come to a compromise over which way is right or wrong?

it was decided that all montlies should be posted as new each time (which is the only reason i said anything on that almost monthly thread), without a monthly sticky there is no way for end date people to find ongoing threads before the last day, whereas with ongoing weekly or daily threads it is personal choice to use or ignore the sticky threads if you see what i mean. there is an option to take the time to check for new links in those threads so you (generic) dont miss out on anything that is an ongoing updated thread if you see what i mean.
