Housing Benefit

Hi,

I'm about to apply for housing benefit after being made redundant. My only bank account will just reach the £6000 lower limit after any redundancy pay. My question is:

As I only receive online bank statements now, because I went paperless a couple of years ago, will the Housing Benefits people accept my own printed copy of the online bank statement, or do you think I need to order official bank statements from my bank.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks

I emailed them a password protected electronic copy of mine and they were fine - I think councils do vary though!
  • Phone or email them and ask. I did that with mine cus my paper statements took so long to come but the council said they were perfectly happy with print outs

I provided our county council with printed copies of bank statements when they did an assessment of Dad's finances for his care home fees and they were OK with that.
  • Thanks everyone. Going paperless is fine when you're trying to save the planet, but when it comes to getting some evidence of income or savings the bank can be a little slow at sending them out specially.

What you can do is go to your bank and get a print out and get them to stamp it
  • Never thought of that. Good idea.
