Looking for new car insurance

So car insurance is due at end of month and I'm ditching Tesco. They caused me hassle last year when they auto renewed the insurance, which was fine as they were cheapest I could find. But I paid in full. Then for several months, with their racketeer tactics attempting to get money out of me for the insurance, claiming I still owned it. Because they 3rd party it out it seems one department wasn't talking to the other. So despite them sending me confirmation letters and sorry letters to say they'd made a mistake, their debt collecting department carried on sending threats. And speaking to the debt collecting department was worse as they were well rude. No apology for their wrongly sent letters.
I want to move as been driving since end of 2009, only drive to and from work and have never claimed, yet the insurance is more than last year. How does that work.
I think Martin or someone else on Watchdog pointed out Full Comp would be cheaper for people who have only 3rd party fire and theft. Because 3rd party is normally aimed at young ones now.
My car is from 2000 with no mods. Is anyone able to recommend decent insurance? It would have to be business as although I don't use the car for work (just drive there and back) as an IT engineer, at any point I might have to use it.

I think that insurance for pretty much everybody has gone up significantly this year.
Mine went down by £500 because I got a years no claims bonus (after an accident which wasn't my fault in 2009, several days after my renewal). I followed the car insurance article on here and I'm really glad I did. I looked at the usual comparison websites but the article suggested Aviva (who aren't on comparison websites) and they've offered me insurance which is £130 cheaper than anywhere else.

Even though it's on Martin's article it appears Coverbox are a company to AVOID

Gone with Aviva in end. Annoyingly at the end they said if you accept, they keep your card details on record.
Am I legally entitled to ask them to remove my card details? I've paid in full, I may not want to renew next year and don't want them charging my card by mistake when I've actually cancelled. (I'm bracing myself for Tesco to do that this year as they royally screwed up last year, so no doubt they'll probably do it again.) Another thing Tesco did wrong last year, along with the racketeering, was even though my policy was set to renew automatically and they sent me a letter saying they would do so. They never did. So I would of been uninsured. Idiots. Lucky I checked before it expired.0
