can I have some help/ideas from you wonderful people please
I have been asked to do crafts with the kids in both my daughters classes on the run up to christmas but I don't really know what is age approriate. The school have said just to tell them what I need and they will provide all the supplies. DD1 is 9 and DD2 is 5. I am by no means a pro at crafts I just do it as a hobby with my girls but they have taken some of the projects into school and the teachers loved them but I am worried about the ability of the kids as my girls have been crafting from a very young age, please help
Thanks in advance

How about christmas decorations for the 5 year olds? I am sure they will manage to paint something on these:

Or how about:

Any of the above would be lovely little items they could take home to their parents for christmas.
Or you could do card making with them?
I wouldn't worry too much about their individual abilities, as going by my DDs class (she is 5) they do a lot of arty things in school. Just go for something they can paint / colour as they will be familiar with that sort of thing. hthCross Stitch Cafe Member No: 86 :j0 -
Long long time ago when mine were little, i remember cutting the 'cups' out of polystyrene egg boxes, dipping them in egg white and then glitter and putting a bit of string through so they could be hung on the Tree,
I still have a pink one and a white one and my 'kids' are 43 and 38make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

what about making mini memo boards, cut a cereal box into size of beer mat (or use beer mat), if using cereal box stick 2 together, then cover paper, can use white kids can draw, or paint it, add a mini memo pad (if you go to wilkinsons, poundland, homebargains) then add a mini gel pen to the side with ribbon, usually get gel pens for £1 for 10.
Making christmas crackers - empty toilet rolls, crepe paper, joke and novelty inside
mini calender - either buy the small calenders and use instead of a note pad
paper macheexx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
I saw an an idea recently (they were making pumpkins but could easily be adapted)
Blow up a balloon (not too big)
wrap balloon with wool soaked/dipped into pva glue.
add glitter
leave to dry
when dry "pop" balloon
otherwise there are lots of lovely ideas here0 -
How about getting pine cones, children could collect and bring in. They can then paint White and then glitter them to hang on the Christmas tree.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0

do you remember the bobbles we used to make 2 circular bits of card wrap wool round then once cut it makes a pom pom, weve made white ones to hang as snowflakes etc, also paper snowflakes ideal for all ages great for decorating school windows you can add glitter too. paper chains are easy, salt dough christmas shapes you can use cookie cutters make the hole in top and hang can be painted, same with air drying clay.our school always makes these as advent candles.i love the pine cone idea they look great glittered and hung, xmas cards you could make with them,or if you are allowed christmas cookies or mini cakes,i go in and help with making iced yule logs most christmas's:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

Salt dough decorations are by far the cheapest easiest and prob most fun to do for kids of all ages
A load can be made in advance for the younger kids to paint - glitter etc
I used to varnish them after so they last for years
Older kids can make the creations too - Shaun the sheep made with a garlic press for the wool always looked fab or big poinsettia flowers
