buildings for the roof to be repaired. Check the policy for consequential damage, it may not cover that, but if you have fully comprehensive insurance for your car it may cover it, have you checked all the details of your policies?

    Building for the roof
    Car for the car

You could only claim off the buildings insurance if you held the owner of the building negligent (ie not maintaining the roof) but as you cannot sue yourself it is 2 claims.

    Thanks for the replys.
Your correct I can only claim on the car through its own insurance.
I accepted a £150 excess.............But did not realise there was a £250 compusary excess +its smashed the windscreen, so thats another £60.
on the top of that they say my next years premium will rise by £200.

I think i can get it fixed for around £500............whats the point...

What is the £250 compulsory excess for?

The glass should be claimed as part of the AD claim and therefore not carry an extra £60 excess.... it may be that you have to pay the £60 to get the car usable again but this should then be refunded/ deducted from the excess paid to the garage.

Check the excesses carefully and then you can decide whether to go ahead with the claim. If you can avoid it, don't bother as you say, it may increase your premium for next year unless you have full NCD and have protected it?

Be very careful, I rang my insurance company a couple of years ago when we had storms and the slates fell off my roof, the advisor said it wasnt worth claiming as I had to pay the excess and my policy would go up the following year, i paid for it myself and when my new policy arrived it had gone up by £200 and when I called to ask why it was because " I had made a claim " I explained I hadnt and was met with the response that although I never went ahead with the claim there was a problem with my roof which I had reported to them.............................. of course I told them exactly where to stick there insurance

Surely the increase on your insurance will be for more than one year. Some companies will ask for the last 3 or even 5 years claims.
Of course you should search around for a new company once it is up for renewal and don't forget to go for cashback from sites like www.quidco.com
