  • You just have to watch out that they don't downsize your images as they transfer them - I know I've read about this on digital photo forums, where a 5 megapixel image has been downsized to about 1.5 megapixel - rendering it only useful for 6x4 snaps.
There are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't

In many cases it helps if you say where you are - someone with local knowledge might be able to give local specifics rather than general advice
  • As Manathome says there are quite a few devices out there nowadays which sound like what you're after. But they're also not as expensive as MAH mentioned. 5 minutes of surfing turned up this one. I've had a very early version of these devices for 4 years now, (so early it only has compact flash and smartmedia slots...) and its not failed once. They mostly use laptop hard drives which are fairly fault tollerant when it comes to knocks and bashes etc.

A good place for specific advice on devices is the storage & media forum at dpreview.

I'd also second Hunnymonsters advice. I used kodaks machines (via boots) and it reduced them down to screen resolution pics only, far too small for further prints... This was a while back, but once its done, its done!

Lastly Pin's suggestion is a good one (if a labour intensive one). I did something similar, but while having dinner with a friend at their house..... (logged on and uploaded to a photo site). Obviously on this last point, do your research. Find somewhere with PLENTY of storage, plan ahead to find the interenet cafe etc....

    Hope this helps.

  • We did exactly the same trip this time last year and had the same prob. this was easily overcome by getting the pics put onto a disk in the local pharmacy which was V. cheap and quick. There are loads of places to do this all around orlando / disney etc.

Cant see the need for buying any of the memory back up stuff but someone is bound to put me right!
I save so I can spend.
