Moisturiser...

I've reached that age where I really think I should do more for my face than let the shampoo from my head wash it!

However I resent spending piles on tubs of cream that make me break out in spots or make me itch (My experience of many products) and just sit in the bathroom cupboard.

Do many places give out samples to try? Has anyone else been through this traumatic experience? I just feel like everyone I speak to finds a lotion/ potion first time!!!

    don't worry, you're not alone, and skin changes as we get older, has diff requirements in diff seasons etc too.

    I would suggest a good starting point could be speaking to one of the advisors such as the Clinique counter in Boots. They will be able to skin type you and give you pointers to what your skin needs. They should also be able to give you some samples to try.

    Good luck!
    When I went in for a moisturiser recently (requirements were ok for sensitive skin, and including a SPF 15) it was the first time I'd really looked at the skin care aisle in years. I was so baffled by all the stuff I didn't want (anti aging, plumping, dewrinkling etc) that I nearly gave up and ran for the door.
    The shop assistant that I eventually collared in desperation thought I was completely barking - clearly not used to us low maintenance types. :rotfl:

    Aldi do a really good range (I think it has q10 on the packaging) which is very cheap compared to the big brands and gets quite good reviews.

    Hiya,

    I can vouch for the ALDI range. Sorry I cant do small links but its here;

    http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/product_range/13493_13599.htm

    My skin is very sensitive but have found this range to be wonderful. The moisturiser is the best, non greasy and absorbs beautifully.

  • I was surprised at how good Aldi products are (sensitive-wise). I've had problems even with some specifically 'sensitive' stuff, but not with Aldi.

    Simple is a brilliant range, so much my husband started using it after a shave (yet refuses to be seen buying the male version?!). Love Clinque and Aldi's range is suprisingly good. Best to start going round beauty counters and getting samples. Body shop do some good ones and are brilliant with samples. I recently tried some Lancome one, which felt amazing..
    I try and change my moisturizer once the bottle is empty and head for another brand. But if I find a good one I keep at it until I feel a change is needed.
