V40 warm start problem

Hi All
I have a slightly strange problem and am wondering if you can help...
2002 V40 1.9D 103hp
Starts perfectly from cold every time. Sometimes when started from warm, the revs decline and the engine stalls. I then have to cycle the power several times and crank repeatedly for 30-45 seconds to start the engine.
Battery and alternator are fine. I can't find an idle adjustment - I assume its electronic. No engine management or other unusual dashboard lights. Driving performance is fine which I guess rules out the MAF sensor.
Google suggests the ECT sensor but the temp gauge is fine and stable - it always reads half way up when I have the issue.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

What's a V40? Is it a Volvo? If it isn't, what is it? Why not state the make of car in your post instead of expecting people to be physic.0 -

Oh, give him a break... you figured it out, didn't you?
OP - try posting over on the Volvo Owners Club site:
http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/
They split the boards down into models and so there will likely be someone that has a bit of informed knowledge from owning one. I always find them really helpful.

Probably because they're asking on a motoring section for mechanical advice. If people don't know it's a Volvo then it's unlikely they're going to be able to help too much.0 -
Thanks Tiddly. Thomas, I agree entirely with the previous post.0

Anybody capable of answering the question would know that the V40 is a Volvo. In fact I'm surprised that there are people on a motoring board that don't know that.
I've just sold a V70 and bought a C70Can I help?0
