Just a vent and a warning really.

I've just come out of Hospital and my parents sent me some flowers using Next.

When the flowers arrived they were dreadful, half dead, bashed up and far less than the picture. It ruined the whole thought of someone sending flowers.

To be fair to Next, when my mum rang to complain they apologised and refunded the cost of the flowers and delivery. There had been a problem at the depot and lots of flowers got bashed up but they sent them out anyway! I think that this was such bad customer service that they never checked the flowers and it reflects badly on Next.

It was the October bouqet for Breastcancer and the picture has 10 roses and i got 4 broken ones! picture has 4 lily stems but 1 got 1! Not great quality even they hadn't been bashed up! Def not worth the money.

Thats such a shame. After reading threads on here about large national florist companies (i.e. interflora et al) i think i'll be using a local florist in the future.

Just to counterbalance it, we used Next to order 2 large bouquets (for the mothers) for our civil partnership ceremony last year. Only 1 bouquet arrived, and when I called up they weren't able to do anything about it. I was quite angry, but to their credit, we were told to keep the 1st bouquet, which I gave to my Gran, and they reordered the other 2 complete with an extra box of chocolates and bottle of wine each and had them sent out directly to our mothers, and also refunded the £90 we had spent. All in all, I was fairly pleased with how they handled the situation.
  • We deliver flowers for several companies and they generally arrive at the depots in good condition. You do get the odd one thats had something crush the box(I get these reboxed before loading them for delivery) but the main problem comes with the boxes having bags of water in them to keep the flowers fresh. These invariaby leak and the box gets all soggy and then is easily damaged. Its very embarrassing to give people things in this condition but I do apologise and explain whats happened and offer them the chance to refuse them.
The leaked water then soaks lots of other boxes and damages them also.I wish they'd use some kind of gel instead of water or better bags.

Have to say, Ive used Next for flowers a few times, and they have always been lovely - I once had a terrible bunch arrive from flying flowers, and I agree - when they arent perfect its really upsetting, my mum thought I had deliberately sent her a bunch of dead ones !!
