Hi everyone.
I am after printing my own labels for various containers (plastic and tin). With my bad past experience of inaccurate and wasted A4 labels fed through my regular home printer, I have been looking at the Brother QL500 printer. It uses no ink (hoorah for saving on replacing cartridges!) and the only cost after buying this device are the label rolls.
My questions:

My questions:
- does the accompanying software work on MAC allowing integration with Word, Excel and Outlook like it claims?
- what are the labels quality like?
- do logos/pictures print well enough?
- can bespoke size labels be created and cut automatically?

Not used this one in particular, but have used another Brother thermal printer.
Print quality was 300 Dpi i think, used mainly for barcodes and ID tags, so very good for that. As being thermal, can sometimes look a bit grainy.
All we used was a continuous white roll and barcode labels, which was pre cut as the machine did not cut the labels.
Yes great it takes on ink or toner, but the rolls of labels were not cheap, about £30 for the barcode labels. May be cheaper now. So you do need to choose which labels you would be using.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
Thanks neilwoods.
I am aiming for continuous roll too. I was under the impression that the QL500 cuts the labels?0 -
Like i said, the one we used didn't. just had a look on there site, and QL500 does indeed cut, so even better to use the continuous roll. And it does say it does support Mas as well 10.1 to 10.7. Which is a bonus as the one I used was PC onlyMansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0

I read reviews on this and a few people warned not to get this if running the MAC. Those posts were from a few years ago though so not sure if Brother have released patches for their old drivers. In the meantime, I have also emailed the company to ask if my MAC version is compatible with all the features of its software.Like i said, the one we used didn't. just had a look on there site, and QL500 does indeed cut, so even better to use the continuous roll.
