                    Put full mortgage application through last Friday via mortgage advisor, he phoned this morning to say approved and sure enough when I got home mortgage offer letter from bank was there :j Solicitor hopes to have everything completed 3 weeks today! Now I am someone who reasons that if you expect the worst you won't be disappointed - have been thinking of seller pulling out, mortgage offer being withdrawn, my deposit going missing en route to solicitors from bank etc etc (maybe spending too much time on this board )
 )
Is it reasonable to start packing do you think? Have been desparate to move for years and it seems that it might be happening at last and I can't quite believe it. Buying in Scotland, renting so don't have to sell and buying empty place so sellers don't have to move out etc.

            Solicitor is a being optimistic, its possible though. How long is the chain ?
 Do you not need to give notice at your current place ?
 I would strongly suggest not rushing.Nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. - Alex Supertramp0

            No chain. Have to give 4 weeks notice but I plan to overlap by a couple of weeks and move gradually.0

            My friend completed in 3 weeks recently. It all depends on the speed of your solicitor and whether they encounter any problems while doing searches etc. So its possible !Nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. - Alex Supertramp0

            Thanks, guess I'm not so concerned about the actual timescale of things, just focusing on what could go wrong between now and when I actually get the keys in my sweaty hands and wondering if now that the mortgage offer has come through the door I should actually start packing! It would break my heart I think to start and then have everything fall apart for some reason.0

            I'm hoping to complete in 3 weeks too (hoping, wishing, fingers crossed), I've done a lot of packing already because I feel I have little choice.
 I have a large house (some of which used as b&b), so have lots to pack and sell as we won't need half the stuff we have. There is also the matter of sorting out attic's, garages, sheds etc, which often you find a lot to throw out in. A lot of what I have done, is sort things out, and pack all the good things, then put it back where it was but packed if that makes sense.
 Yes, things can go wrong, but still the majority don't! At some stage you have got to start packing, so just start having a sort out now. If you wait to exchange it can be very stressful and rushed doing everything in a week (providing week between). I have 2 toddlers a business and my husband works away part of the week, so I couldn't possibly do it all in a week on my own. Hence why I've started.
 It's what your comfortable with, but bear in mind if anything did go wrong (heaven forbid) then you would have to possibly unpack!!!!
 I've been addicted to this forum, like you and reading all the bad is making me obsessive but what can you do?? It's out of our control on the whole.
 Good luck with the move i'm sure it will all be fine!!0

            You will have two or more weeks overlap anyway so there will be plenty of time to pack.Nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. - Alex Supertramp0
