Key question, swiftly followed by "have you talked to them?"lincroft1710 wrote: »Supporting which charity?
Because if you are running an event and advertising that it is 'in aid of' then you need the charity's permission.
Plus they may have some ideas / help.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Ok, so I should just contact the charity directly? Good, will do that now.0

First off contact the charity to see if they will grant permission.
You need to sit and work out costs - will it be a dinner dance or some other event, then you need to find a venue willing to provide space, you will need to be able to sell tables to people especially if they are having a dinner. You will need public liability insurance most likely especially if you are planning more than one event - this will also cover you in case someone trips over at an event you have organised. You also need to work out numbers - how many people are you having to cater for.
How are you going to advertise this event? What will your costs be? Please don't say that you won't have any costs because you will because venues need to be paid as do entertainers if you are having some. How much time do you have to organise such an event? Charity events (as with any event) do not happen overnight - I have been working on a charity event now for the past 4 months, the event is next week.0
