Help Please, Chrome and firefox crashing

in Techie Stuff
Daughter has both installed on her laptop and uninstalle IE. Yesterday her connection seems to have developed a fault and neither programme will open, she just gets 'whoops' type message and told they've crashed.

I've uninstalled Skype, as an error message was popping up, I've tried system restore, but I'm not sure what else to try. Thought about uninstalling them both, but then she has no browser......
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

    You could uninstall one then download a fresh copy and install that.

    Which version of Windows and do you have recovery discs or a recovery partition?

    This started a while after uninstalling IE?

    Hi santer.

    Windows XP, no discs and it's a mini laptop so nowhere for a disc to go.

    I can't use either browser, so even if I uninstall one, how will I be able to reinstall?

    IE was uninstalled months ago, this problem occurred yesterday and though I've ried restore and uninstalling things like skype, I'm having no luck and I've pretty much reached the end of my know how.

    Have you got a USB Key to download it onto and load it from that?

    Windows won't allow me to restore the sytem either 'your computer cannot be restored'.

    Hmm, USB key, without sounding stupid, do you mean transer it from computer to a usb stick and then load it onto hers?
