Mixup between VW Servicing and Warranty - Advice needed

Options
Hi all,
I recently renewed my plan on my VW vehicle. I was under the impression this covered the service on my car and therefore booked my car in for service and MOT.

During the day I spoke to an advisor who explained the car was not covered for servicing and I would have either have to pay additional costs for the servicing or take out a service plan on the car (valid for 2 years) for it to be free. I declined both and just asked for the MOT to be done.
When collecting my car the service agent advised me that the car was actually serviced as the message wasn't passed onto the garage in time. He then said he looked into my paper work and said it would be fine as my previous years service plan would cover me.

I have now had a call from the VW garage who advised me that they have rechecked all the paper work and I had a warranty and not a service plan as originally thought (for the previous year) and therefore I am not covered and I must pay for the servicing.

I am a bit confused as to where I stand in this scenario...I understand that the paperwork for the last 2 years states I have a warranty and not a service plan and therefore I am liable to pay. However in the same vein, this was a mistake from VW in a) Servicing the car even though I said no b) Communicating the car was then covered when it was not.

Any advice/help is appreciated.

I would suggest this was your mistake, why blame the garage?

Because the op told them not to service it?
Then when they did, they stated there would be no charge?

I would offer to pay for the parts, as a gesture of goodwill.

Agree with previous poster: offer to pay for the parts but not the labour - this was their error, not yours and should have been dealt with internally.

In future, don't take it to the VW garage, if the manufacturer warranty is up, it's not worth paying main dealer prices. Look around locally for an independant VW specialist - there's usually one around, and usually staffed with people trained by VW! They will charge around half what VW do, and the customer service will undoubtably be better - I've had VW's all my driving life and all VW garages I've ever know have been useless in one way or another.
You had me at your proper use of "you're".

You booked it in for a service and MOT which was done. At what point did you say no dont service it?

No service would probably mean no warranty due to not being serviced as scheduled.
