Tesco not recognising no claims discount

Has anyone else had this before?
Had my car insurance renewal through from Tesco's and is a stupid price, have spoken to them on the phone and they won't decrease it.
I've done the comparison sites and can get it £80 cheaper with 'Admiral' being the cheapest.
The problem I have is that Tesco's only recognise 9 years no claims bonus when in actual fact I have 12 years. My renewal paperwork from them says 9 years. Admiral recognise 12 years, thus making it cheaper than a quote for 9 years.
I've spoken to Tesco and they will not provide me with anything to prove I have 12 years, they said I need to go to my previous insurer and ask them if I don't have anything in writing. I told them that they have the evidence in writing from last year when I sent them the original renewal notice from my previous insurer that would have stated 11 years ncd!!!
Has anyone else come across this and if so could you get around it?

It is a very common issue as every insurer has their own maximum which could be as low as 5 years. Typically the best way around this is to keep copies of your renewal notice each year so you have your own audit trail to supply.
In your case, you need to ask your previous insurance to write to you with how much NCD you had with them and you supply that and the tesco renewal notice and you should be fine.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Forgery isn't a good start to getting insurance.
The insurer will take your money initially, but they'll be wise enough to know what your previous insurers maximum is, and when you make a claim, they'll tell you the paperwork doesn't match.
Then they'll cancel your insurance.0
