i do like those; for some reason I'm liking fast estates lately (probably why i've just picked up an 850 T5 estate); only thing with the Stagea is they all seem to be automatic.

Fairly common to convert them to manual using a Skyline gearbox. Subaru Legacy GTB is also worth a look.

I almost bought a Legacy a few years ago; turned out it was one street away from where I was working but he sold it the night before I was due to look at it. Although if i have a Legacy it'll have to be a white one
  • The impreza is great fun ......... for 5 mins!

Then when you are driving it about normally for the rest of the time you will be completely depressed watching the fuel gauge drop like a stone.

You'll need another mortgage to run it

I was working with a Polish colleague a few months ago who has one. He said, when driving to Poland, he had to fill up something ridiculous like 4 or 5 times, compared to once for his wife's golf TDI. :rotfl: And the tanks were the same size.

I've been driving an ST2 for 9 months now. Get about 300 miles from a tank of petrol (25-26mpg) I've finding it fast, but not an special car. It doesn't turn many heads, and it will always be 2nd best to it's big brother the Focus RS.

However the ST is a car which you can drive, it likes motorways, and it's still good on the local runs if you can put up with the fuel use.

A standard WRX would be no worse than a standard ST?

    We're getting 25-26mpg in our WRX-S

What colour is the ST2? I had an orange one when they first came out and that was definitely a headturner, couldn't go anywhere without people knowing I was there though. Then my hubby got a blue one which tbh was no fun.

Now the old focus rs which I had was a different league altogether it was graham goode worked but you just could not drive it in the wet.

Between the two cars the 0P is talking about I would definitley go for the ST (in orange or white) I have never been a fan of subaru

    My advice...

Buy something boring to run around in (and get bashed up by idiot drivers/parkers) and then spend some cash on a weekend/trackday motor ;)

  • focus st, costs are lower for one compared to the impreza's and hey interior is more refind seats could of been beter though in the ford should of brough back the spraco's the st seats are too wide and done tend to hold you like the MK1 RS does so you find yourself clenching you butt cheaks when you throw it about to stay planted infron of the wheel.

It's blue, so does blend into the background a bit.

Also had a Mk1 RS for a few years, which turned a lot more heads even though it was also blue, but you rarely see them on the roads.
