Thanks AliB, did you have to wait for a summary of convictions from the police? If so, how long did it take? Mine hasn't come back yet (2 weeks). Did you have to wait long to get your appointment at the embassy?

    Hello
I had to get a memerandom of conviction which took 2 weeks to come.I rang the embassy on a monday morning i could have gone that thursday of the same week but i went the following week. One thing i will say about 200 people get the same appointment as yourself so when i got there the queue was massive. What they do is have for example all 9 oclock appointments on the left side of the road 9.30 appointments on the right so they get all the 9 oclock out the way first then the 9.30 move over ect.So if your appointment is say 9.30 try to get there a hour early because then at least you will be near the front for when your appointment is told to move over. Also you queue outside for a good hour half somif its cold take something warm to wear and take a umbrella in case it rains.Make sure you fill in all the forms on line because they wont except hand written you will have to make another appointment. Also make sure you pay the fee before you go otherwise they send you out to a bank and you have to queue all over again.if you need to no anything else let me no

I'd have thought you'd be fast-tracked if you had a police record and were going to Oz. ;)

You can go to your local police station request a form under Data Protection Laws and obtain the information held on you on the police computer. There is a fee to pay but is quite straight forward. People have to obtain this information if they are applying for certain jobs.

can you tell me what you actually said when you got to the police station and how long it took to get it back..did you have to go to the police station where the crime was commited or can they get the records for all under your name

    thanks for any info xxx
