JSA compulsory course,no support, advice needed

Some will have already about the farce i've been having at the job centre.
I was reading on the directgov site last night that if they send you on a course and you need support they are supposed to provide that support. I have a severe/profound hearing loss and I'm being sent on a course for 2 days to enjoy the likes of roll play, group discussions and joy of joy phone skills ( that creases me up really) according to the site to book a support worker takes 6 weeks, this was arranged in under 2 weeks. No one has actually asked me about support so I have a sneaking feeling theres going to be none there and I'm not sure what the place running the course is really going to do.
I have paperwork here from my social services stating that I have a severe/profound loss and what my communication needs are, Ive actually found one dating back to 2003 (I'm not a hoarder really!!!) When I applied for jsa I did put that I had a disability and what it was so its not as if they didn't know, but should i take any of the paperwork with me? I suppose it proves I'm not saying this happened since seeing the idiot advisor, would it also help me to get a disability advisor instead of the ignorant buffoon I've got ( you can tell i like him)
Joking aside tho, this has really got me stressed to the hilt, my biggest fears are group discussions cause I can't keep up with them and I'm left looking like an idiot, same for roll play. As for the phone skills, I have a phone thats not only got the increased volume but it has increased tones as well, friends reckon it blows their heads off and they'd rather use a mobile than my phone, even with that and the T-coil on the aids i only use it to talk to people that know me. I've actually cried buckets over this.

Did you tell them you needed support when you were informed about the course?Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

When I was first told I was going on the course I was told it was for half a day to do a CV, I pointed out I'd already done that and the problems i'd had there. I was informed by letter that it was for 2 days and it involoved all this other stuff. When I went down to sort it the woman i saw was really helpful, then along comes the idiot and he's started going on like the playground bully! He said he'll send me on as many courses for as long as he wants and if I don't go he'll have them stop my money, when I tried to explain that me and roll play really don't go down too well together he just started shouting that I was going end of, I pointed out I have a hospital appointment on the same day and he said if I was working I wouldnt have been able to go anyway!!!!
The course is going to be fun to say the least!0 -
Surely though if your interview techniques are so poor you'd really benefit from this sort of course?
I suppose the first thing you should do is work out what sort of support you'd need to attend the course and ask for it in writing (not sure who you'd be writing to though).
If the answer is no support would help then you'll just need to grin and bear it (except the phone bit but even with a support worker this would be nigh on impossible?).0 -
I'd go, use only sign language (make it up if you like, they won't know), eat their lunch .... then write on a piece of paper "can I go now?"0

You must at least try. If it is a waste of your time once you have been, fair enough. If you don't play the game of the firm who are paid a decent sum to get people into work, you will find a losing battle. I went, eventually got into the place a total wreck from the walk, took Oramorph, plus a further 14 tablets and they made me a drink, let me rest, then let me !!!!!! off. This was the last I heard from them.0

HiYa Fin, if you are disabled .. .. what are your care & mobility needs ?Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I try to be an even-handed poster and accept that you at times may not agree with these opinions or how I choose to express them, this is not my problem. Well, what a farce! 16 people for the course and 4 of us turned up! They couldn't work out why I'd been sent to do a CV, they had a look at the one the job centre had done and just said to type it up again and print some off.
They let me go sooner because I had to sign on, when I got to the job centre a very observant person pointed out that I was late, I told him where I'd been and showed him the letter, as i was leaving he actually told me to not make a habit of being late!!!!! I mean, what on earth can you say to that? I just shook my head and walked away!
