    Why don't they simplify the ratings?
    Grade inflation. See also academic assessment.

  • Classic spin @ Co-op (downrated one notch):

    "All UK banks where there was an implicit govt. guarantee have been downrated by three notches but we have also been uprated by two notches at the same time because of improved capital and liquidity position. Therefore this is good news"!
