Spring Term 2008 - Cheaper holidays?

For those of you with children it might be worth checking next year's Spring Term dates.
I've got mine through and for the first time I can remember the Easter bank holidays do not merge into the the end of Spring Term. Good Friday 21/03, Easter Monday 24/03, end of spring term 04/04.
It seems that a lot of the holiday sites have not cottoned on yet so they've loaded the prices for the Easter bank holiday weeks but dropped them again for the end of term. I don't think this will last long so take a look while you can.

Same also in the North East. Which holiday firms are you talking about in particular, I wasn't sure many had released their prices for 2008 yet?0

easter break in Essex is from 31st March - 11th April, give or take the odd inset day

Not sure where you are but this probably has to do with the fact that some authorities are switching to a 6 'term' year and having fixed terms of 6 weeks regardless of where the bank holidays fall-Easter being the main bone of contention as it is a 'moveable' feast.
I live in a UA area that has just adapted to the new system this year and we have from 30th March until 16th April THIS year (I'm not organised enough to have next years dates!!)whilst the surrounding county authority schools have from the 5th April (day before Easter) until the 23rd and they may therefore have the benefit of a cheaper week outside of the traditonal Easter break.
It seems great until you're trying to tie up with cousins across the country and realise you haven't got holiday at the same timeand some parents here have the disadvantage of child in secondary school in one holiday system and a primary school child in another and therefore not having holiday at the same time!!
Cynical me says it's great until the holiday companies realise the discrepancy and just make the 'peak' period longer!! So grab any bargains you find!0 -

As an example Center Parcs was £90 cheaper for a 4-day break, 2 adults and 3 kids.
Virgin was over £1100 cheaper for a 5-day break in Orlando.0
