London with kids at half term or later?

Am planning to use up some Tesco voucher days out deals by coming to London on the nights of 28-29 Oct. But I can't find anywhere reasonable to stay (just one adult with 2 kids 12 and 9). Really grateful for suggestions.
If half term works out too expensive we could visit 24/25/26 Nov.
Love to hear your tips/suggestion

Have you looked at Youth Hostels? http://www.yha.org.uk/find-accommodation/london/ and they are very central - Oxford Steet and St Pauls0

Consider a PremierInn close to a railway station outside London - they were doing rooms at £29 a night, even at half term.0

You could try the Holiday Inn 2for 1 nights link as Brent Cross is £49.50 per night for a room with two double beds in it for 28-30 Oct. The hotel operates a free shuttle minibus service to and from the nearby tube station (Brent Cross). Reviews on trip advisor below.

I would go on www.tfl.gov.uk and plan your journeys in advance as there are planned works at weekends with parts of the tube closed. The 9 year old will travel free with you, but the 12 year old will need to purchase a child's travelcard each day to use on the tube.0 -
The Premier Inn at Croxley Watford has £29 room for 28 and 29 Oct currently. The tube station is half a mile away and good reviews on Trip Advisor from families who have stayed there and used it as a base to visit London. 30 mins to get to Central London approx on tube. You would need to purchase a zone1-7 off peak daily Travel card for unlimited daily use on tubes and buses at a cost of £11 for you and £4 for your 12 year old. The younger child travels free and just follows you through the pushchair/ lugguage manned gate.Consider a PremierInn close to a railway station outside London - they were doing rooms at £29 a night, even at half term.
