Tax Credit overpayment?!

I moved in with my partner on 14th November 2010.
I informed Tax Credits immediately, and they amended my claim, and started paying us Working Tax Credits, which I wasn't entitled to before as I was single and not working.
I have today received a letter stating I have been overpaid by over £1100.
How is this possible when I informed them of the changes straight away?!
When I rang up and made the joint claim I double checked everything, as the amount paid to us was in my opinion quite high.
I have tried calling them but their computers are being updated so they can't access my info.

When I went from a single to joint claim I too received an overpayment and am paying it back now.
They didn't cancel my single claim straight away so I know that was the reason for mine.0 -
Mine was cancelled straight away. The thing I don't understand is the letter states I was overpaid 'for the period ending 14/11/2010' so they are saying they overpaid me when I was single?!
I don't see how that is possible. As a single claimer it was a no brainer. Single, not working, 2 kids

My guess would be you didn't complete your annual declaration for your single claim. This still has to be completed even although the claim has ended. Best bet is to phone them on Monday and ask for an explanation.0

I complete them by phone as soon as I get them.0
