  • They seem to have cleaned up their act a bit. Called them to cancel my account and they were helpful (indian call centre though), and they told me when I should call back to confirm (as they don't do refunds) so that they can cancel just before my next payment's due

  • I had problems with lovefilm overcharging me - I took the free trial over Christmas and a few days before the billing date realized the disc I had might not reach them in time. So I went online and changed the tariff to 1 disc. I only had one disc (as confirmed on screen), and they updated my account immediately. Thereafter I received one disc at a time. However I was billed the full amount. Through an email exchange they stated blah blah as per their ts and cs. This wasn't the case so I copied and pasted their ts and cs and stated exactly how I was within their ts and cs. The finally agreed to refund the excess (£5) at the start of my next billing date. Not perfect, but good enough. Incidentally, due to their incompetence they initially misunderstood me and upgraded my account again to three discs, so I got a few extra for about a week :-)

Not got the vouchers - don't expect I will...

  • I had a 3 month free trial with Lovefilm.com. The turnaround varied from very quick to average, but nothing to complain about. I paid for a further 1 month after the free 3. When it came to cancelling, I made sure the last discs had been returned and received, deleted everything from my wants list (so they couldn't send anything out) then phoned up and cancelled. I found it to be no bother...

I've found Lovefilm very good.I mostly get my top choices, turn around is quite fast. But I was a member of Blockbuster which was a total nightmare.i even selected DVDs from their rock bottom/ no one ever borrows them list as a test and even they didn't come on time. And those DVDs were the total pits.
E mailed cancellations dozens of times and was totally ignored.I'd subscribed via monthly DD from my Citi card. I mislaid said Citi card-reported it lost and it was allegedly cancelled. Several months later on Citi paid Blockbuster-who had requested the funds from the lost/stolen card.Have tried to get the money back but as anyone who has dealt with Citi knows you get absolutely nowhere

And yet our local Blockbuster store is excellent
  • I had the same problem with Blockbuster, my top 10 films stayed the same for about a month!

If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right
  • Has anyone had Lovefilm threaten them with a £10 fine? I just have.... I had an Amazon account as well as a Lovefilm one and as you know Lovefilm took over the Amazon rental business. I let the 2 run together for a wee while but decided to cancel one recently. I sent back all 3 discs I had on the same day (not sure if they were in the same envelope though).

A couple of weeks later I get an e-mail saying they still had to receive one disc and that they couldn't completely close the account until they received it. I e-mailed back right away saying I had definitely sent it back. They then said they would send me a form to fill in so they can claim from the Post Office for the missing disc - but if I don't send it back within 10 days they will take £10 from my account! To say I'm hacked off with this is putting it mildly. I find it disgusting that they can threaten me like that, it feels like they are suggesting I may have kept the disc... why I would want disc 5 of a TV series on it's own puzzles me though. They will get their form, but they will also get a very nasty letter to their head office if I can find the address.
Debt problems? It's never too late to get help - just ask the friendly folk on this forum! :grouphug:

I sent two films back in the same envelope once and one went 'missing'. I just telephoned and said I had sent them both back at the same time. I do not think I was ever fined, but I never used to check my account that much in those days anyway. It was around 2 years ago.
