Hi all,
Need some inspiration. I got up late, didn't have time to get lunch to bring to work with me. I'm sitting at my desk knowing that in an hour's time I'm probably going to go and buy an over-priced sandwich from M&S. So here's an old-style challenge, which will help me and I think you might enjoy :
What's the cheapest, satisfying lunch I can get with ingredients you can find in a town centre in a short lunch break?! Let's say it has to come in cheaper than a £1.50 sandwich!

Do you have a microwave at work? You could buy a packet of eggs and make scrambled eggs in the microwave.0

That's a good one, thanks - we do indeed have a microwave! Plus I guess that would do more than one meal...0

how about a jacket potato ( if theres a m/wave at work) and stick a tin of tuna on the top?
a cuppa soup with a crusty roll?0 -
or if you have a fridge, why not buy some bread/rolls, some slices of meat and a couple of tomatoes. Then you can have the same lunch the next day too. That must be cheaper than buying a ready made sandwich?0

my favourite stand by when I forget my lunch is two buttered rolls from the bakers and a banana off the fruit stall at the corner of the road (to mash onto my rolls) Mug of hot tea to go with it :-)
Works in at less than a £10 -
Tin of Big Soup (main course soup) heated in microwave with a crusty roll. £1 maximum.

All good ideas: Mandy, we have a microwave and a water boiler, no toaster.
Should have mentioned I'm vegetarian so meat is out but could definitely manage some kind of sandwich filling and a couple of rolls, I'm sure!0 -
